Hello French addict !
Sophie created her first bow tie to help her brother, who had nothing to wear for a themed party and too little time to go shopping. That’s how she started this great adventure, “Les Papillons de Sophie” - the French for bow tie is noeud papillon (“butterfly tie”). With a keen passion for the retro-chic universe, this designer creates unique handmade pieces, from bow ties to headbands, in a wide range of fabrics with rich and vibrant motifs.
5 questions to the designer
Who are you?
I am a young self-taught designer based in the Périgord region, in the Southwest of France. I love all sorts of textiles, and I am always hunting for pieces of fabric and second-hand clothes or objects. Les Papillons de Sophie is the continuation and confirmation of a passion for sewing, and the desire to create fashion accessories that are somewhat quirky.
Give us 3 words that describe your universe.
Elegant, quirky and gracious.
Where do you get your inspiration?
From sketches in vintage magazines, from the movies and from certain women who made their mark on the history of fashion.
Where do you make our creations?
In my atelier in Dordogne.
“Made in France”: why that choice?
Because I want to highlight and represent the French know-how. I love beautiful materials and meticulous work. To produce in France is to choose proximity, know one’s partners and work with complete confidence.
