Created by Charlotte Ronfaut, Mallow France is a line of elegant and art-inspired women’s accessories made from vegetable-tanned leather according to traditional methods. The manufacturing process is 100% local, and all of Charlotte’s creations are unique: they are handmade and hand-painted in her atelier in Toulouse. Her mantra? “Less is more” – to reconcile ethics and style. She is trying, in her own modest way, to change the way people see fashion by offering accessories that are designed and produced with local partners, to bring her own contribution to the “slow market” concept.
5 questions to the designer
Who are you?
My name is Charlotte Ronfaut; I am 29 years old. I am from Paris, but I have been living in Toulouse, in South West France, for 9 years. I first came here to study applied arts and I stayed for the city’s art de vivre!
Give us 3 words that describe your universe.
Mischievous, elegant and bold.
Where do you get your inspiration?
From my surroundings, but also from movies and TV shows – I am from a pop culture generation and it is a big part of my creative world!
Where do you make your products?
I make all my pieces in my own atelier in the heart of Toulouse..
“Made in France”: why that choice?
In a nutshell, to offer high-quality, traceable products. All the production stages take place in France, in my own region. My customers value this approach, as they know where their accessories come from and how they were made, which is an actual privilege in our contemporary mass market, overbranded society.
