In 2011, Marie Rouillier, a fashion design graduate from École Duperré, a prestigious Parisian applied arts school, started her own clothing brand, Le Bestiaire, inspired by her unique interpretation of fauna and flora. She draws inspiration from Albertus Seba’s Cabinet of Natural Curiosities, Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s botanical illustrations, Gustav Klimt, decorative arts and nature. Exploring her favorite themes, she draws, paints, sews and embroiders, thus creating unique clothes. Her “Volatile” sweatshirts, adorned with leather petals forming a wing-like design, have become her best-selling products. Her creations are poetic and original, but also urban and easy to wear. From raw fabric to production, Le Bestiaire chooses to support French craftsmanship by manufacturing its clothes in France.
