The term “Bleu de chauffe” dates back to the first steam locomotives. It was the name of the blue (Bleu) jacket worn by railroad workers who heated up (chauffe) the water to raise the pressure. That’s how the expression was coined. Drawing inspiration from the workers and craftsmen who wore these satchels, Alexandre Rousseau and Thierry Batteux aim to breathe style, inventiveness, simplicity and authenticity into their collections. For Bleu de Chauffe and their makers, this combination of “French touch” elements inspiring each new collection is also a token of quality.
Taking inspiration from early 20 th century archives, the Bleu de Chauffe Gibecière has a unique character that makes it stand out from the crowd, accentuated by details that are unmistakably contemporary. One inner zipped cotton canvas pocket signed by the artisan who made the bag.
